A felt cactus needs no water and cannot prick you. It is the ideal houseplant.
The Venus flytrap is our favorite. It has a mouth, and the mouth has opinions.

Requires Patience and Some Skill
I'm an adult and I made these myself, more as a stress reliever and to show my daughter about sewing. The instructions are clear and the templates and helpful, but tiny. The plants are super cute. I think it's a little ambitious for elementary school kids unless there's experienced-with-sewing parental supervision. Middle school kids may be better in skill level but patience varies.

Perfect project for 6 yr old w/ some help
Kiddo loves this as a present. We opened it right away. Great mom and daughter craft. She enjoyed making the cactus. Easy to follow instructions. Surplus of supplies to customize as you see fit. New fav craft books

Good but not for young children
These are great but I can't say that it's good for younger children.
